PPB is a member of Cumbria Youth Alliance http://www.cya.co.uk/ and the Furness Alternative Curriculum. We currently have four enthusiastic members of staff, a Project Manager, ICT Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor and a Workshop Apprentice, that have the young people's best interests at heart with a view to them accessing full time employment or further education on completion of their training. Our trustees are all local people and bring a wide range of experience and skills to the project. PPB is a registered Charity with our constitution allowing us to work with young people between the ages of fourteen and twenty-five. The demand is being led by schools and the need to provide work based learning over a two year period catering for years ten and eleven. The current courses were designed to meet these needs with the students alternating weeks between the workshop and the IT suite. The course requires commitment and enthusiasm if the students are to realise their potential. Apart from the formal qualifications, a great deal of time is spent on developing the student's inter-personal skills, improving behaviour and attitudes. Timetable The course is designed to fit in with and augment the schools curriculum with our 'year' starting approximately one week after the start of the autumn term. Students from schools do not attend during school holidays. The hours of tuition are from 9.15 to 12.15 and 12.45 to 15.45 with lunch organised on site. |
